"Go Home, We Got It" West I-10 Station 2 is located at 851 Dominion Drive in
Katy, Texas in the Nottingham Country Subdivision. The station is
led by Captain Scott Strait and Lieutenant Roger Holloway. Station 2 is the home of Engine 2, Booster 2 and Rehab
2. Engine 2 is a 2003 Pierce Dash 2000 Pumper with a 6 man cab, 750 gallon tank, and 1,500 gallon per minute pump. Engine 2 carries 1,000 feet of 5 inch supply line, four 200 foot sections of attack line and numerous other sections of hose. Engine 2 also carries a Holmatro combination tool for vehicle extrications, plus an assortment of hand tools to assist the Fire Fighters carry out their duties. Engine 2 is a Basic Life Support First Responder vehicle and is equipped with an Automatic External Defibrillator, backboards and other medical equipment. Engine 2 responds to numerous types of fire, rescue and emergency medical calls. Booster 2 is a 2001 Ford F550 / American LaFrance 4x4 Mini Attack Pumper. Booster 2 is primarily used to fight grass and wild land fires. Rehab 2 is a 2003 Pierce Heavy Duty walk-in Rescue on a Freightliner FL80 chassis. Rehab 2's primary function is to assist the Firefighters with rehabilitation on large or extended scenes. The truck is outfitted with 2 refrigerators and freezers that are stocked with water, Gatorade, popsicles and frozen meals. Rehab 2 also has coffee and iced tea makers, microwaves, numerous coolers with ice and an assortment of snacks to keep the energy levels up on the Fire Fighters. For those long incidents there is also a walk-in restroom and awnings on each side of the truck to keep the hot Texas sun off of the resting Firefighters. The station consists of 23 active members, numerous are certified Fire Fighters through Texas State Fireman and Fire Marshal's Association and also, many carry Texas Department of Health certifications such as Basic Emergency Medical Technicians, EMT-Intermediates and EMT-Paramedic. The members of Station 2 are highly trained and dedicated members. Station 2 members are known throughout the Department for their commitment and pride in their equipment, apparatus and Station. |
